A pencil portrait of JET LI

These are the stuffs I use to draw a portrait: an A3 size sketch book, Staedtler pencils from 2B to 8B, Kneadable erasers and tortillions.

I start off with some faint guide lines using a 2B pencil, measurement done roughly by the eyes only... n___n

Here I do a quick sketch of the features as a guide to more proportion adjustments...

Getting the proportion right is the most important step. I could spend up to an hour doing it...T___T... have to improve on my pace. The rest of the shading job will come rather easy after this...

I love the way the tortillion smudges and brings the shading to life...

The face is nearly completed...

Time to shade the rest of the picture...

Adding a touch of 6B pencil darkens and brings out the features...

The final picture...

It took me about 5 hours to finish the portrait, I had to split the work up in to several days because I'm always so busy... T___T

Hope you like it!
